Rasik Balma

Often considered one of Lataji's greatest sad songs, Rasik Balma is a lovely melody of the yesteryears.
I've never really seen Mohanam and the likes (this one being in Shuddh Kalyan, I learnt) as having a 'sad' feel...but with this song, the poignant lyrics and Lataji's soulful singing have brought out the agony so beautifully!
Here is my attempt of it:
Your feedback is valuable.

Music:Shankar-Jaikishen
Singer:Lata Mangeshkar
Lyrics:Hasrat Jaipuri
Movie:Chori Chori.

Good alapana in the begenning. But seems you held your voice at places like neha lagaake and used falsetto, which I have not seen u doing earlier. Would have been better if you sang full throated as lataji has sung.Recording quality of voice has improved by leaps and bounds but there is still an airy sound of the microphone you use! Also Karaoke is just o.k not very good :-)
But overall the song was very good indeed

Actually Vaasanthi/Sohni has been used traditionally in the sad context...

dil hoon (rudaali) - pardon my hindi

kurukku chiruthavale (mudhalvan)

porale ponnuthai (karuthamma)

Yet another good rendition...

After, listening to all your voice-overs on karaoke, i can see 'adapting' your voice to sound like the actual singer...imho, you should stick to your original - thats where you would stand out as an artist :)

BTB, you can use a tool called audacity and rip karaokes of most* songs (except ARR)

* => if there is any vocal processing, you will still be left with some vocals in the karaoke track, And ARR *DOES* process invariably every vocal track :)

Hi,

I was searching for Rasik Balma on Google and landed on your page. Fantastic rendition I must say. Would you want to try some good old Geeta Dutt songs?

Good luck,
Sid
