Quintessential Qaapi

Another undisputed gem,an absolutely soothing melody from Rahman- "en mel vizhundha mazhai thuliye" based on the soul-stirring raga Kaapi. Rahman does of course go astray, and beautifully so :)
I so totally enjoyed singing this one.
Its so happening that every other song I put up here is Chitra's- it hasn't been deliberate! But I'm only happy and see this as my small tribute to the goddess.

I have sung this song with Murali Venkatraman, with whom it has been a long; musically enriching association. After being introduced to the blog world by him about a year ago, it was good to finally do a song with him. Thanks, Murali.

Song: en mel vizhundha mazhai thuliye
Film: May Maadham
Music: A.R.Rahman
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
Singers: Jayachandran and Chitra

Mixing of this version: Murali Venkatraman

Do let us know how you found it.

I'm just writing the same comment that I wrote in Murali's blog.
This is one of my favorite songs composed by ARR. Both of you have done a wonderful job. You could increase the reverb a bit.
Sindhuja - I felt that you were holding back a little. Anyway, enjoyed every bit. Keep it up :)

Sindhuja,

Simply superb!!! I have been listening to your renditions for quite a while. Your songs are full of bhaavam and your do a wonderful job in the pronounciation part.

Romba nalla irundhadhu!!!

You should try singing some classical bhajans/abhangs. I feel there will a good combination of bhakti and bhaavam in those. Keep up the good work

This is one of those rare gems where Vairamuthu and Rahman have given all they have got. The rendition captures the poetic excellence as well as the subtle musical power that underpins the original. Classic song. Classically rendered. Great!
