oru naal oru pozhudhu

This is a relatively rare song, one of Rahman's earliest. Swarnalatha's sublime voice enhances the beauty of this song. I love the way the song meanders on, in a most pleasing, soothing manner.
Having unearthed this song recently, I realized kannaamoochi was not after all Rahman's only nattaikurunji (sorta)!
Ripped off portion of the "interlude" and created a track.
I hope I've done some justice to this lovely song.

Song: oru naal oru pozhudhu
Movie: andhimandhaarai
Music: A.R.Rahman
Lyrics: Vairamuththu
Singer: Swarnalatha

very nice, melodious, though I'd have preferred it at a lower pitch. I've never heard this one.

hearing it again...Thanks for introducing me to such great songs.. I Heard Venumadhava for first time from your blog :)

By the way, Nattaikkurinji ? It sounded like khamas to me..

Thank you, Rosh, Anup, Sumi, Rajesh and Karthik. Glad you liked it :)
Rajesh: You're sorta right, this is not naattaikurunji per se, but doesnt naattaikurunji by itself have similarities with Khamas :) Certain parts of this song are very typically NK- the first 2 lines of the charanams for eg.. Also, the recurrence of the SNDM (rather than SNDP which would be more like Khamas) phrase makes it sound more NK than Khamas. And the song lacks some very typical features of Khamas like occurence of Ni3.

Sindhu,First of all thanks for singing something out of the box.(i mean an unplugged version, just being tired of hearing multiple karaoke versions :)

Vocal versions not only give's an option for the singer to try something new, also defend the listener to hear a fresh song.Since the karaoke tracks are very limited, the majority of our professional audio blogger's would be on a loop and try out the same song, here the poor listener doesn't have a choice to hear something new like this.

Expecting more of this..!

Vidyu- thank you so much :) Will surely do those 2 songs. They might have to be unplugged as I'm not finding karaokes. But guess you like it unplugged anyway :)
Kiran- thanks a lot! I tend to get bored of karaokes too if I just keep doing that and nothing else...

Beautiful song Sindhuja..

Your voice sounds very classy, as always.

I did feel that it was a little strained @ kural maari pochu ( 1st time around) /kodi vayaasaachu parts. Otherwise, nice

Sindhuja,

Excellent rendition. I like your choice of songs and the way you sing them - unplugged. Nothing but your voice. I wish i had the confidence to do that. you have a very good/Awesome voice.

The only question i had is why always a classical based song? why don;t you try other genres? All the the songs i heard from you till date are all classical based. If you have done some other numbers later, please ignore my comments. If this is a personal choice then you don;t have to do it. But i would look forward to it. Thanks for sharing all these beautiful numbers.

Should rank among your best renditions. Your high notes are very good. Keep it up !

Thanks much Meera, Vamsi, Murali.
Vamsi: you're right. I mostly do melodies and semi-classical/ classical. And I know I should try various genres and styles. But I never have the confidence of pulling off anything other than these that I am most comfortable with. Thanks for bringing it up. Will try and do something different.
